POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer
Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Location: Morton, IL
Salary: DOE

SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced and highly qualified Controls Engineer/PLC Programmer to oversee the development of automated control systems. The Controls Engineer designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing and developing new control systems
  • Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems
  • Analyzing data and presenting findings in written reports
  • Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasing and other internal staff
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities
  • Project management within cost and time constrained environments
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards
  • Providing advice and consultancy support
  • Writing computer software and test procedures
  • Developing new business proposals.
  • Analyzing operations, designing workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring that final products meet the established quality standards.
  • Developing and implementing process improvements and technological upgrades.
  • Designing control systems to minimize costs and production issues.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned to meet the business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILL

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working as an engineer in the manufacturing industry
  • Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards
  • Proficiency with PLC hardware and software: Siemens Step 7 Safety Siemens Portal (HMI / PLC), Siemens Starter Fanuc / Motoman experience or PLC interaction Robotic Material handling / welding systems, Keyence Laser marking systems
  • Familiarity with automated welding equipment and processes a plus
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
