POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: EHS Specialist
Location: Morton, IL

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the HSE Coordinator will help minimize the risk of job-related accidents. They will monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities. Will assist in the development of procedures to develop policies to promote high occupational health and safety administration (OSHA) awareness and offer operational guidance within the EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
  • Communicate and train on EHS policies, procedures, regulations, and programs.
  • Research relevant EHS regulations, standards, and best practice guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain documents, and communicate standards, guidelines, and procedures to staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge on existing and pending legislation relating to safety and health, including OSHA, Fire Code, EPA, and other relevant regulatory agencies; act as a key resource in researching OSHA and other EHS regulations and standards.
  • Assist with conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed and new equipment introductions.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations.
  • Document results and recommend corrective action where non-compliance is found; follow-up, as required.
  • Responder to facility emergency events.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, safety engineering, occupational health and safety, or a closely related field. Minimum 2 years of EHS related experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations is essential and is preferred.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and facility maintenance and management is preferred.
  • Experience with laser equipment safety and compliance
  • Certificates, as required by local authority (if required).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
