Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Location: Morton, Illinois

Job Summary:
The HR Generalist will join the HR/Payroll Team, reporting to the Human Resources Manager.  The role is responsible for providing administrative, project and advisory support to the HR Manager and Management in the development, coordination and application of HR processes, policies and procedures.  The HR Generalist will support in the administration of Recruitment, Engagement, HRIS, Leave of Absence, Safety, and Workers Compensation.  This role will also support in training and benefit programs and provide back up support to Payroll. They will also process, verify, and maintain document relating to HR activities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.  This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements and ensure compliance with new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.  Assist with planning and execution of all Employee Engagement activities.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, all benefits administration, and leave of absences; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles all Benefit administration to include reviewing enrollment for accuracy and coordinates any issues with Broker and/or HRIS vendor.  Ensures compliance with COBRA regulations guidelines.
  • Handles the administration of all work-related injuries and workers compensation to include timely reporting, working with the adjustor and the occupational clinics and return to work programs.
  • Administering Leave of Absences, including but not limited to documenting, responding to requesting document, track, follow up return to work.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains HR metrics in the categories of recruitment, turnover, headcount for temps and direct hires, safety, absenteeism, productivity, and discipline.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.  In addition to assisting the HR Manager by providing advice to the fist line supervisors and Manager regarding Company Policy.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Processes personnel action forms in a timely manner and ensures proper approvals.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or Equivalent required
  • 5+ years experience working in the HR field
  • Prior experience with HRIS system, preferred experience with Paycom and/or Paylocity
